The effect of photocatalyst effect of titanium dioxide anatase on heat polymerized acrylic resin plate towards the growth of Candida albicans colonies

Background: In general, removable denture are made from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin as the base material. This material has a drawback, namely that it is often attached to micro-organisms such fungus Candida albicans. Nanoparticle materials titanium dioxide (TiO₂) have antimicrobial properties, especially against C.albicans because photocata-lytic properties can inhibit growth of colonies. Objective: To determine effect applying di-oxide heat polymerized acrylic (HPAR) plates towards Methods: A true experimen-tal laboratory study using HPAR plate object research which was divided into control group and 1%, 2%, 3% dioxide-added groups. Data were analyzed one-way Anova Welch. Results: There an add-ing on RD Statistical tests showed significant re-sults (p=0.000; <0.05)). test between 2%3% groups, there diffe-rences. Conclusion: The application reduced colonies.
